In honor of the beginning of the final year of the Reagan presidency, here's the Shredder -- a cosmetic replacement for the venerable Mac trash can. The file named "Shredder Stuff" -- which comes with this doc -- contains everything you need to change your Finder to use and abuse the Shredder.
The Shredder is designed to work with Finder 6.0 ONLY, and then only on the Mac Plus. It may work with other Finders and Macs, but no guarantees; I can't test it.
What you do is use ResEdit to copy everything in the "Shredder Stuff" file into the Finder. That's it. "Shredder Stuff" changes the Trash icons to Shredder icons, and the MENU and STR resources patch the Finder so it uses the word "Shredder" instead of "Trash." (It also patches the Finder so that it uses the proper verbs and context and all that with reference to the Shredder. After all, "Empty Shredder" doesn't make a whole lot of sense, now, does it?)
